Are you looking to reduce your electricity costs in the long term by optimising your electricity tariffs on the energy market? Increasing volatility means you can benefit from these price fluctuations. You can move your electricity consumption to times of the day that are better for you with intelligent control. Make use of an energy management system that is designed to move grid consumption to periods when electricity prices are low.

The graphic shows an example of intelligent electricity use and optimization of your own electricity procurement over the course of the day. Electricity price volatility occurs not only over the course of the year, but also during the day as a daily spread. The average hourly electricity price per day fluctuated between just under 14 and just under 7 ct/kWh in 2023, for example (source: Agora Energiewende (2024): The energy transition in Germany: state of play 2023. Review of key developments and outlook for 2024). In the following, we explain how you can exploit earnings potential from such dynamic electricity tariffs on the energy market.
The battery storage system acts as an energy buffer. It is charged at night or early in the morning, for example, when electricity prices are low (❶) and the PV system is not yet supplying any electricity. The stored energy is then used in the morning hours to cover the company’s own requirements (❷) without having to buy expensive grid electricity. In the afternoon, surplus PV electricity is stored in the storage system again (❸), as market prices are still moderate at this time. Finally, the storage system is discharged in the evening (❹) when electricity prices are high and demand on the market is rising.

Why STABL battery storage?
The so-called Time-of-Use (ToU) strategy is ideal for energy-intensive companies in particular, which procure a large proportion of their energy requirements via the dynamic market. The ToU strategy relies on an energy management system that specifically shifts grid procurement to times of low electricity prices. Thanks to the flexibility of the battery storage system, you can strategically adjust your grid consumption and thus avoid high costs at peak load times. The ToU strategy also enables targeted load shifting, which significantly reduces operating costs and at the same time makes more efficient use of your own resources. Even without a PV system, you can use the ToU strategy to flexibly adjust your grid consumption. The battery storage system reduces grid power consumption when prices are high, for example during the week, and allows more energy to flow when prices are low at the weekend.
